The expiration date is built into the job design

AI trainer jobs grew 642% in Brazil in 2025. That number measures the distance between where models are and where they need to get to. And it has a built-in expiration date.

AI trainer jobs grew 642% in Brazil. Before updating your resume, understand what that number is actually telling you.

Deel's report, published in March 2026, recorded this growth for 2025. Salaries range from US$15 per hour for generalist roles to over US$100 for specialists. What these numbers measure is the gap between where AI models currently stand and where they need to reach to operate without constant human judgment.

Every label, every response validation, every fine-tuning pass is a decision about what "good" means in that context. Medicine, law, code, customer service. There's a human on the other end teaching the model — and if we use ChatGPT's launch as a birth date, we're talking about a 3-year-old: already has vocabulary, already walks on its own, but still needs to be taught not to stick its finger in a socket.

For those working in product, this changes how you read any AI system: not as autonomous technology, but as infrastructure with embedded human labor — and all the errors that implies. The code copilot has reviewers, the medical triage model has specialists validating its outputs.

This 642% growth will last until the model no longer needs them. The expiration date is built into the job design.

This reinforcement learning doesn't transfer responsibility. What the model says still represents your brand.
